The Power of RSS

Stuck on the tube with nothing to do? Would love to read something a little a more stimulating than the free ‘news’ available left on nearly every seat? If only you could get your mobile organiser to download the FT or Guardian before you got on the escalator, with RSS you can.
RSS is basically an internet technology allowing content to be pushed to you, with it you can get your podcasts, vlogs, or simply news from your favourite site delivered straight to your phone without even thinking about it.
iPhone
Blackberry
Windows Mobile
Android
iPhone
The iPhone, as you’d expect has a massive variety of RSS readers, we’ve chosen RSS Reader Pro simply because there is a free version, but also because their Pro Version ($3) is nice and easy to use and will download pictures and categorise feeds will sheer simplicity
It’s available in your AppStore on your iPhone just search for “Pro RSS” or is you want to check it you’re on your computer then it’s here http://www.oualid.net/iphone-rss-reader/

Blackberry

By far the best reader for Blackberry is the totally free Viigo, RSS is nicely ordered into categories such as News, Weather, Sports, and for each RSS feed you can specify how much data it downloads and when.
You can download it by heading over to http://getviigo.com/ from your blackberry
Windows Phone
YomoMedia is almost a wonder to behold and it’s free of charge! It has an online account so you can organise your feeds, podcast and videos into groups and chose settings of what to download and when from the comfort of your PC. There is even an iPhone version as well. The windows version is available with surprising ease from your ‘Windows Marketplace’ or from here http://yomomedia.com/

It’s podcast feature is particularly nice you can push podcasts to your phone from the website and even set it so it only downloads them when your phone is plugged into the computer to conserve your download limits
Android
Lastly we come to Google Android phones, while still a little fledgling the AnyRSS application and its integration into the Android Home Page is very nice indeed.
There’s a nice video of it working here
And if you want to download it then just search for ‘AnyRSS’ within your App store and pay the nominal $.99
