The 'Cover Your Ass' with style
Ever had someone say they’ll do something, not do it, and you get the blame as you can’t find in writing where they agreed to do ‘that thing’? Hence the ‘cover your ass’ email was born, where you get out of a meeting and let everyone know what they said they were going to do :).
Now Outlook 2007 has added ingenious tracking methods to make sure that when you send your C.Y.A. email you get a handy little reminder when it’s time to chase the tardy recipient. Just compose your email as normal, but before sending, click on the ‘Follow Up’ flag at the top of the email.
At the date selected within the follow up, the email will pop up at the bottom of your calendar and flash a reminder on your screen. Now you’ll be able to keep track of what you asked people to do more than they will!
