When it comes to choosing which Microsoft Office plan is best for your business, there are many different options you can choose from. Whether you’re just using office applications like Word and Excel, or managing shared inboxes; there is something for everyone. Eventually, you’re going to need to get around to selecting the one you want.

There are quite a few features in both plans, but one of the biggest is the headcount allowed for shared inboxes within your business. For Business Premium, you can have up to 300 users for your shared inbox, whereas for E3 (Office 365 Enterprise E3) you can have an unlimited amount. For most medium sized organisations, Business Premium is more than enough, but you might end up needing more from other features of E3. Overall, if your headcount is reasonably small, you shouldn’t need to worry about going all out with E3 – keep on reading though, we’re going through everything, remember!
The second feature we are going to look at is storage space. All in all, your business goal should be that your users don’t run out of space and end up frantically having to rearrange and delete data, taking up valuable work time and production hours. Although it is important to make sure your users never have this problem, sometimes E3 might be overkill. Business Premium accommodates 50GB of storage for each user’s inbox and is also equipped with 1TB could storage per person too. On the other hand, if you think you’ll need more than that, E3 comes with unlimited storage for both cloud and inbox. If you are sending purely text based files and your company headcount isn’t huge, you might want to consider Business Premium.
The third feature here is only exclusive to E3, so it’s definitely something to think about. Advanced email is specially developed for businesses that deal with lots of regulations, like the health industry or another workplace that requires a lot of compliance. With integrated archiving and legal holding features, your users can stay professional. Currently, Business Premium does not include this feature at all.
Across the board (not just Business Premium), Office 365 plans aid companies in accessing the cloud easily and quickly without the use of additional IT support, meaning that your business can keep its exact amount of active users on the system with the touch of a button. E3 offers a more in-depth version of this system, using an online portal and automated managing solutions. Overall, your business will be easily manageable as long as the number of active users is under 300.
In terms of support if everything goes wrong, both plans have protocols in place to make sure you get the support you need. Where Business Premium offers on-site support with a one-hour response time during business hours, E3 has the same but 24/7. Both also come with a 99.9% uptime. Community support, troubleshooting and web support are key features of both.
Prices vary depending on how many users you have and which plan you go for. In general, E3 is considerably more expensive than Business Premium.
